Hi!  Welcome To My Project!

I’m Carrie.  Thank you for visiting.

I was always inspired to do yoga, and dabbled with it most of my life. I got serious in my mid-forties, in the midst of an extended spiritual crisis. (Okay, a "midlife crisis.") I tried a one-hour power yoga class (Dave Farmar instructor), and found it challenging but intriguing. Impulsively, I decided to practice the class for 30 days straight. I flopped around on the mat for 30 days, then 30 more and many more 30 days. It transformed my life.

I discovered the path of yoga. And I realized that if the path of yoga was for me, it was for anyone. Yoga is a blessing you grant yourself, as a fully developed human seeking a satisfying and interesting life experience. It is an opportunity to examine fears and self-limitations, and be healed in the process. It is a lifelong journey which never fails to reveal exactly what you need to learn. You are the student, teacher, and subject--a perfect, custom-made situation.

And now a word about this project. I was always inspired to be a writer, but fear overwhelmed my efforts. Over the years, I practiced managing fear (a yogic practice) by writing constantly. Every interesting thought or seed of an idea was noted. I have computer files galore, sacks of scrap notes, essays, and stories to prove it. I couldn't figure out how to organize it into a cohesive project, until my friend Julie Dossey provided the best suggestion ever suggested: why don't you write to your younger self? That project exploded and was the perfect venue for collecting and organizing my thoughts. This website and blog was born. Since then, I've come to realize that I'm actually writing to myself. Everything I write is what I need to remember.

Some of the earlier items posted here were written to "younger me." The words that flow to her through my fingers never fail to support me now, as I write to myself. The basic message is always the same: Return to this moment and open to it. Occupy it fully. There is no other.

Open body.  Open mind.  Open Heart.  Free Spirit.
